Wonderful post! I think the storytelling approach is one of the best. Readers of any background or age group can get into a good story and if it 8767 s about how the writer (the normal guy/gal) sticks it to 8775 the man 8776 or 8775 the system 8776 , all the better. If 8775 the man 8776 or 8775 the system 8776 has horribly wronged the writer to some unbelievable degree, that works just as well. Thanks for the great info once again.
Of course, there 8767 s good repetition and bad. To stay on the good side, make your point in several different ways, such as directly, using an example, in a story, via a quote from a famous person, and once more in your summary.
What is left out is what the book or article is about -- the underlying concepts, assumptions, arguments, or point of view that the book or article expresses. A narrative report leaves aside a discussion that puts the events of the text into the context of what the text is about. Is the text about love? Life in the fast lane? Society? Wealth and power? Poverty? In other words, narrative reports often overlook the authors purpose or point of view expressed through the book or article.
If the essay is still missing the mark, take another look the thesis. Does it present the strongest argument? Test it by writing a thesis statement for the opposing viewpoint. In comparison, does the original thesis need strengthening? Once the thesis presents a well-built argument with a clear adversarial viewpoint, the rest of the essay should fall into place more easily.
This is an awesome website. Work well done. You really helped me. All the reading comprehensions, figurative language worksheets, and the different essay topics are of great help. I will make sure my colleagues know it too. Thank you:)
Stories allow people to persuade themselves, and that 8767 s what it 8767 s really all about. You might say that we never convince anyone of anything—we simply help others independently decide that we 8767 re right. Do everything you can to tell better stories, and you 8767 ll find that you are a terribly persuasive person.
Bingo! Your insight is spot on & inspires to write with a purpose, which sometimes gets lost in the assignment or deadline to produce a well written, persuasive piece. Thank you copyblogger again (and again) for providing valuable and motivational copy for all writers!
